1864
Josef und Franz Werndl&Comp. Waffenfabrik und Sägemühle (Arms Factory and Sawmill) is established in Oberletten near Steyr, Upper Austria.
1926
In accordance with the resolution at the 1925 annual general meeting, Josef und Franz Werndl&Comp. Waffenfabrik und Sägemühle (Arms Factory and Sawmill) is renamed STEYR-WERKE AG and entered in the Vienna register of companies.
1928
May 21: Puchwerke AG shareholders' meeting approves merger with Österreichische Daimler-Motoren AG.
December 28: The new company, Austro Daimler Puchwerke Aktiengesellschaft, is entered in the Vienna register of companies.
1935
After the approval at Steyr-Werke AG shareholders' meeting to merge with Austro Daimler Puchwerke Aktiengesellschaft, the new Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG is entered in the Vienna register of companies.
1957
Frank Stronach founds the company Multimatic.
1969
Multimatic merges with Magna Electronics.
1973
Magna Electronics Corporation Limited changes it name to Magna International Inc.
Magna opens its first headquarter in Toronto, Canada.
1983
Founding of "Steyr Motorentechnik GmbH"
1995
Founding of "Engineering Center Steyr GmbH & Co KG"
1998
In 1998 MAGNA International Inc. acquires a majority holding in Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG. From 1996 to 1998, Magna undergoes a major European expansion, acquiring a number of European-based automotive system suppliers.
2004
MAGNA STEYR's business unit Powertrain is hived off into the independent Magna Group Magna Drivetrain, which focuses on the development and production of drivetrain technologies and all-wheel-drive systems.
2005
Founding of Magna Powertrain following the merger of Magna Drivetrain, Tesma International and the Engineering Center Steyr.
2015
Magna divests its interior business and acquires GETRAG Group of Companies, one of the world’s leading independent suppliers of automotive transmissions
